Missing a lot of the good Purisima Mtn fruit, but enough there to still enjoy this Syrah. A couple folks really enjoyed while most thought it to be “OK”. Drink soon.

What do you do with a bottle of Syrah that you forgot was there? You drink it! Lots of spice in this, but also a lot of plum, with notes of blackberry and leaves on the forest floor. We had this with Mongolian beef and garlic bread: excellent. Only knock was the heavy sediment in the bottom, but this was hardly unexpected. Beckmen continues to amaze with wines that can stand up to years on the shelf.

Heavy nose of violet, pepper and a hint of smoky bacon fat. Decanted 1 hour then tasted. This wine has aged well. A luscious velvety mouthfeel that coats the palette, smooth and refined. Dark berries, black plum, mild pepper, vanilla, clove, with a long finish. Perfect bite and tannin. No heat from the alcohol. Beautiful and big. Sadly, my last of the vintage.

Still pretty decent (thought not what it used to be) on night #1, but faded on night number 2. Drink soon.

Finish was a little sharp. I had hoped the age would have mellowed it a little more.
