First Wednesday Wine Club (Francobollo, Haberfield): "Served blind Dried out fruits, a little damp cellar, red over black berries, slightly herbaceous notes. Juicy, medium plus intensity acidity, plentiful chalky tannins, controlled ripe fruit. Australian with age, 15+years, Cabernet?"

A most excellent wine that is very much in its drinking window now. A wine that possesses drama, passion and tension without ever going over the top. A dramatic and complex nose that will have you saying, "now that is good". A passionate body the clings on to you that says "what do you think of my style?" and a gripping finish to leave your head spinning thinking "wow, that was good".
Drink now or 3+ years. Decanted 2 hours before consumption.

Varietal Grenache vintage 2009 from the cooler Blewitt Springs part of McLaren Vale Fruity aroma and palate, rasberry, blackberry and a hint of plums. Lot's of cedar in the aromas too (10 months on barriques) Fruity attack, mild tannins and acidity resulting in a velvety mouthfeel and an ok balance. The alcohol volume does not dominate. Med+ length finish, complexity disappoints a bit.
Had with the danish dish 'Parisian' steak which was an excellent food pairing.
