Drinking beautifully 10 years post-vintage. Deep ruby colour with slightly brown edges. Aniseed and star anise notes on nose, and very rich spicy licorice flavours. Nice balance and length.
Ex Magnum. On the nose the wine displays aromas of blackcurrants, a hint of vanilla oak and a touch of cedar. The wine is very soft on the palate, with its primary fruit still evident showing cassis, sweet fruits (plums), dark chocolate with vanilla oak supporting the whole wine. The palate is quite plump with a sweetness & ‘juiciness’ about it. The wine is now quite mature, for me the tannins are now fully resolved/dissolved and integrated into the wine. The finish is rather good. Consumed with lamb rump followed by a cheese board; perfect accompaniments for it in my view. In all for what is a sub $20 bottle of wine on release, it has aged and drinks very well. Drink up any remaining bottles.

Clear, dark ruby, dense legs. On the nose, this had blackcurrant, blackberry, coconut oak, along with whiffs of licorice, plum and cedar. Developed. The aromas dropped off after barely any time in the glass. Medium acidity, medium(+) body, high flavour intensity of sweet dark fruits, licorice and vanilla. Low tannins. This wine is fast reaching end-of-life. Don't hold any longer.

Almost liquid black colour. Aroma of cedar, light diesel and barnyard. Initially a very hollow wine with excessive tannin, but with time develops a plum, black cherry and black currant flavour. Still with strong tannin but more of a fruit balance.

Smooth. Mulberry, chocolate and mild spices. Not as full bodied as a Coonawarra Cabernet-Sauvignon. A nice quaffer that was worth the brief cellarage.
