49th TWIGS Tasting (Terry and Natalie's (temporary) place): Cork. 14.3% alc. Brownish hues. Vegetal, spices, black fruits, dark berries, green olives. And then this greenish aroma - celery? or parsley? Palate is medium/full, with fruits galore, dried herbs, spice, pepper. Touch of sweetness. Slightly puckering tannins settles nicely with food.

Delightfully supple, voluptuous warm dark and red fruit and spiced wood. Excellent balance, very polished, quite long. 45 kuna ($8) for a glass on the waterfront in Split.

Strong aromas of ripe fruit, blackcurrants and dark plums, herbs and chocolate. Very dry, first thing that strikes is how elegant it feels in the mouth the extreme fruitiness of the wine, a little tart and very spicy, this really has got a kick to it but it still somehow conveys a smoothness and complexity. It's aged for 8 - 12 months in a mixture of French, Slavonian and American Barriques resulting in hints of smokey/ash and vanilla.

Decanted for an hour. Had with roast beef, wild mushroom sauce and coriander rice. What a good fit! Excellent Plavac Mali lingonberry, good tannins, very typical and very good.

Garnet, clear, and reflective. Aromas of blackberry, plum, smoke, tobacco, floral - perhaps violet. Taste - balanced but slightly acidic, blackberry, plum, smoke, earth, tobacco and paired wonderfully with beef tenderloin with red-wine fig sauce. Length - medium. I’ll try my 2nd bottle in a year.
