  • This is actually non like any 04 characteristic. Not at all green and in fact quite ripe dark red fruited. Extract was good for the vintage and this shows the power of this wine. Though I would have preferred it a bit more elegant but this showed grand cru weight. This definitely could age. The fruit acid and structure were all present and satisfying to say the list.

  • Impromptu Guys Night Out (Cafe de HK, Balestier Road): Pretty good - a nice Burgundy, but just not quite delivering a solid Grand Cru experience. This was a rather a step down from the last bottle of the wine we had a couple of years back. It did have a lovely nose, more typically Musigny than the previous bottle, with masculine notes of earth, meat and mushrooms underlying feminine wiles of dark cherries, blueberries and plums surrounded by a halo of violet flowers and spice. Some 2004 herbacious creeped in at the side, but not so much as to disturb an otherwise very attractive nose. The palate was a bit behind the curve though. There was certainly very good depth and breadth, but the berry and plum fruit was a bit dry on the attack, with some warmth at the edges that faded with time. Otherwise, this had pretty pleasant flavours - bramble, herb and some spice, winding their way towards a rather fresher finish where the dark fruit mingled with earthy mineral and another touch of 2004 menthol hints. Overall, quite enjoyable, but not a strong Musigny by any stretch of the imagination - a bit too rustic in feel I thought. I am not sure it will improve all that much in the bottle either - the one we had two years ago seemed quite a bit fuller and more complete.

  • Vosne Romanee vs Chambolle Musigny (Zeffir): Smells like detergent, though candy-like, liqourice. Great palate, ripe plums and prunes, cherries and raspberries come in the mid palate with a fresh and appealing attack. Fantastic on the finish. Stil tasting just as well as the previous bottle

  • A huge surprise to say the least. My first Taste of a musigny and one from an unknown producer which somehow managed to get musigny to make in 04 which makes me suspect this could have been Leroy's. 2004 but really nothing much green except for light strawberry leaves. Lovely definedly elegant poised nose of blush strawberries , tons of airy fairy florals that floats thru the palate. Seemingly understated or some might say light but this has a certain streak of longevity and fortitude from start to finish. It's amazingly clean pure and pretty bright. Delicious and irresistible and makes me wonder what a real domaine made musigny will do to me.

  • Sweet cherry candied nose. Fresh cherry and strawberry fruits, elegant and pretty. Soft, supple and so so gorgeous. On first taste it already strikes me as an excellent wine with so much quiet subtlety and elegance. Fantastic.
