  • Never had this producer before, didn’t know what to expect.

Upon opening, the nose was a complete mess and had me wondering if it would come around or if I need to start looking for a Plan B. Filtered for sediment through clean unbleached cheesecloth, poured into 2 8oz Boston round bottles for future consumption during the next week, and the remainder was decanted for 6 hours in a small carafe used for this TN.

Dark brown brick in color. There is a slight tinge of ruby that glimmers every now and then. A very simple nose of dried cherries, pralines, and butterscotch. Palate is similarly simple. Dried cherries, raisins, and butterscotch. Fully resolved tannins. Long oak spiced and dried cherry finish.

Not bad, but it is lacking depth on all aspects. For a $20 hammer price on WineBid, the price was right. But given the effort involved in preparing a bottle of vintage port to show its best, this is a bit of a letdown. I’d drink these up soon.
