  • We have to give Chile lots of credit for having the soil and weather conditions to make decent Chardonnay. It does not hurt that they seem to have their winemaking skills in order also. On top of that they even got the price right. There are some distinct, but subtle flavor and aroma characteristics to these Chilean Chardonnay's. To me it is kind of a mineral, lime earthy taste. The color is quite golden. The nose is tropical fruit, with lime and some earth. Across the palate, there is that orange blossom, tangerine flavor, with some pineapple and even some pear. There is just enough oak. Probably partial malo lactic fermentation, as the acid is pretty civilized. Pretty rich in the mouth, though there is not much indication of the vanilla/lees thing. Tropical fruit with light mineral finish.
