  • Four years since our last bottle, this is the last of 3 we bought from Barbara’s living room. Color has faded from purple to brown-garnet. Plum nose with a hint of barrel, the bottle was slow-oxed for 2 hours. Fading fruit on the palate, this was truly excellent.

  • Another one of tonight's wines that really floats my boat. Brought to the event by Bob, decanted one hour and it's a beauty! In a perfect drinking window. Dark fruit on the nose and palate. Tannins fully resolved and everything in perfect balance....a real beauty. Tied for WOTN to me. Thanks for bringing this one, Bob!

  • Last of 3 bottles - showed up on "drink now." PNP. Red/brown color with slight gradient from rim to center. Great nose - baking spice, sweet cherry, cinnamon, black cherry. Palate had similar flavor profile. Medium+ body, medium acidity, integrated (low) tannins and long finish. As prior taster noted, very silky palate feel. Really enjoyed this - this wine has aged well. 92-93 range. Need to buy more current vintages as this has improved with age.

  • Decanted 3 hours before dinner. Nose of plum and blackberry. Still lots of fruit on the palate, it has a luscious mouth feel. The wine just kept getting better and better. By hour 4 my wife concluded that it rated a 95.

Still very fruit primary with limited tertiary characteristics. Enjoyed at a restaurant so no good notes. Would pair well with grilled fruits as the fruit here is big but the wine has structure to handle the fruit. Happy I acquired.

(Paloma Merlot) Medium dark red violet color; intriguing, lifted, ripe currant, plum nose; plush, complex, plum, ripe currant palate with subtle oak spice; needs 2 years; medium-plus finish (another appealing Paloma Merlot, with more complexity than the average Cali Merlot)
