Opaque garnet, and intensely coloured almost all the way to the rim. Attractive nose of cassis, green capsicum with some subnotes of cedar and baking spices. Medium-bodied, persistent core of cassis and sandalwood, a wisp of fine tannins, there is an acid line that sits slightly outside the wine, reasonable length.
Bottle was into neck and from an auction consignment that had original unopened boxes. This bottle is good, but falls short of the greatness of previous bottles - the intensity and harmony not quite as good. Unsure if it is bottle specific, or that the wine in general is starting its decline.

AH and Crew Ride Again: Blind. Light coloured. Clearly Cabernet - cherry, blackberry, earth and a minty streak with some leather in the background showing the age. Fresh on the palate, lots of texture and bright red fruits. Seamless and the best bottle of 91 John Riddoch I've had.

from magnum, stored in my cellar since purchase, lovely developed colour, deep rich with browning hues, brilliant crystal clear stamp of the variety and region, red capsicum, mint, menthol, cassis, bottle age characters tobacco leaf, leather, cedar, very sweet fruited, rustic tannins from oak and skins, lovely length and persistence

Eucalyptus, capsicum, sweet currant, perfectly balanced and in early maturity, this may well go another 30 years like this! Brilliant.

40 years of Wine Tasting at DWS with John Pudduck and Graham Archer (Dulwich Wine Society): From magnum. Incredibly dark and dense! Can't believe that this is wine is 30 years old. Blackcurrant and eucalyptus. Everything in its place. Spectacular!
