  • Not wonderful by any means, but not as bad as some of the notes below made me think it was going to be. Big and a bit coarse, and did NOT do well with air (was undrinkable day 2), but a decent pinot nevertheless.

  • Fruit, earth, lovely mature pinot

  • Much better than the last bottle. Cherry colored, very light, indistinct nose. Nicely balanced sour cherry and strawberry flavors on the palate. Nicely structured, short, almost non-existent finish. Food-friendly and quaffable, but not in the same league as subsequent vintages of this wine.

  • Suble and pleasant fruit nose at first, and full well-textured fruiton the palate, which unfortunately led to a bitter, metallic finish. Let the bottle sit for 30 minutes, hoping the wine would resolve into something more integrated, but the wine instead devolved into the least pleasing bottle of Smith I've had, and I've had over 2 dozen Smiths from other vintages, and enjoyed every bottle. Fruit dissipated, leaving a hops-like bitterness paired with the aforementioned metallic bitterness. Have a chance to purchase another case at $24 per bottle and I'll pass.

  • The first bottle we had of this was fantastic. I gave it a 91. The second bottle we couldnt even finish. It was so bitter and astringent at the finish, that it made no sense to keep drinking it. Its possible that it was corked. Segued into a bottle of Yalumba Tawny Museum Reserve with toasted raisin bread and quince paste. Yum
