  • From magnum. This was showing nicely from start to finish. The reduction has faded, yielding some waxy lemon to yellow apple flavors, hints of ginger build on the nose with more air time. A firm background of acidity buttress the softened elements. It gained weight over a couple hours in bottle. Very good!

  • Another fantastic 2010 from PYCM.

Still has the youthfulness to go another decade…but if I had more in my cellar, they certainly wouldn’t make it that long.

Reduction still present but starting to fade a little into the background giving way to dense orchard fruit that is just packed tight with tons of focus and energy.

The now $400+ price tag for this wine makes sense to me. Delicious.

  • The Roulot Meursault was good, but this eclipsed it; typical of PYCM it had baby fat and extract, slightly more purity of fruit, and very flavorful and less reduction. Gorgeous wine.Zachy's Burg Wine Dinner at AOC.

  • From 75cl, perfect cork, opened but not decanted 1 hour. Glorious first impression: struck match, citric, mineral scent; very slender, acidic yet fully ripe entry; intense linear citric/almost oyster-shell mid-palate; very long, mouthpickling, resonant finish. Then the worst culinary disaster in 4 years hit my palate, alas with such violent force that even this superb wine became irrelevant. I guess this bottle was 92+P, perhaps even better than that, but as an otherwise happy occasion (my own 5Xth birthday dinner) was so comprehensively ruined that I could no longer taste what was in my glass, I'll say 92P(?)

  • Lunch at La T (La Trompette, London): Mid to full straw. Quite rich on the nose. Similar on palate, a touch of caramel and then mid weight Meursault. Broader and rounder on the attack without quite the trademark precision and focus in the finish. Lovely, but contrasts rather with the more ‘correct’ and focused 09. ****
