Highly perfumed syrah. Violet and black fruits with highly astringent finish which is a little overpowering. Acidity is ok and probably needs food. Not bad - a midweeker!

-- decanted immediately before tasting -- -- tasted non-blind over a few hours -- -- 85% Syrah, 15% Viognier --
NOSE: expressive aromas of red berry syrup, black cherry, and pipe tobacco; overall, quite “modern”-smelling, with noticeable backdrop of pepper and floral perfume; light oak – gentle new oak spice.
BODY: clear; black cherry color of medium depth; medium bodied.
TASTE: good freshness and acidity; Viognier is very noticeable, as it initially actually tastes like a red/white blend --- lots of white Rhone mineral on the finish (as opposed to the mineral one might expect to experience on a 100% Syrah from Cornas, for example) --- this mineral note did tail-off considerably over the course of hours; ripe red fruits (but not too ripe, sweet, concentrated, or extracted); not funky; bit of peppery oak spice and light garrigue comes forward on the finish, which is long and of moderate intensity; no tannins; alcohol not noticeable (13%); very easy-drinking wine; drink over the next 5 – 7 years: I don’t think this has the tannin or concentration of fruit to actually improve with age, although I do think it will hold for a little while. More “international” in style than Cuilleron’s regular VdP Syrah.

Slightly dissappointing . Felt a bit disjointed like a blend of white and red wine
