Community Tasting Notes (10) Avg Score: 91.4 points

  • Light mix of garnet and ruby red. Lovely nose with bramble, roses, strawberries and some light twigs. Medium acidity (6/10) and medium bodied. Doing well with a few years in the bottle. Layered palate with strawberries, roses, dried cherries and dried herbs. Long and tangy finish. Drink till 2023.

  • An absolutely beautiful and now very mature & ready Sonoma coast pinot by a very reputable vineyard / winemaker. At this point of maturation quite a reasonable QPR at our price point and an outSTANDING QPR at the avg CT price. Decanted for an hour and that seemed about right. Mature but no hint of decay at all yet - with proper cellaring this wine should go to at least 2018 - 2020. Dark red, soft, complex, well integrated with soft balanced but still present acids & tannins - not truly Burgundian in style simply because of the source of the grapes but this probably is the most elegant and Burgundian CA pinot I have had. Beautiful long lingering aftertaste. Paired oh so well with Maine lobster tails and risotto. Soft complex almost floral nose of classic dark cherry, raspberry and coffee with a hint of vanilla. Flavor profile of dark cherry, red berries and fruit up front with a more earthy finish with cigarbox and a hint of black pepper. Highly recommend this wine.

  • Aging nicely. Still good fruit and power.

  • Tasted at a recent Pahlmeyer tasting at restaurant Bonterra in Charlotte put on by the Wine Vault. Beautiful young quintessential Sonoma / N Coast pinot with aging potential, a very good wine, I really recommend this but it will improve and become even more interesting over the next 2-3 years. Dark red, medium bodied, tannins present but balanced, very smooth, great aftertaste, very fruit forward at this point. Intense nose of red cherry and strawberry with a hint of white pepper, primary flavors of red cherry, more raspberry rather then the strawberry on the bouquet, more black pepper rather then the white pepper on the bouquet, smoke on the finish. Not a good QPR wine at this point but despite that this is really really good and with aging and some further balance and complexity I easily see this scoring 1-2 points higher. Overall a much more elegant and Burgundian style wine then the '08 Pahlmeyer pinot which followed.
