Gorgeous upon opening. Meaty cherries, pepper, earth and loads of mineral notes. Lots of savory spice. Palate is equally enticing. More rustic earthy red berries, leather components as well as more pepper. Hits me like a baby Cayuse in more ways than one. These Wind Gap with a touch of age are showing great these days.

Similar to prior experience, this is a very lean bottle of wine, that opens very tight. Not nearly as interesting as the same vintage of the Griffin's Lair, which was more open for business. Highly recommend a long decant to let this unspool - better yet maybe more cellar time.

PnP, consumed over two nights. This does not show well on PnP - very tight and shut down. Highly recommend a long decant as the change is quite significant both aromatically and taste wise. On the nose dark fruits, smoked meats. On the palate, definitely a more lean cooler climate style, the fruit is dark (blackberry, dark cherry) but not forward, lots of acid, savory notes of olive tapenade. This could use another 5 years of cellar time or a very long decant.

Gave long decant (4 hours) and definitely benefitted.
