Northern Michigan Wine Tour 2012; 7/8/2012-7/11/2012 (Leelanau County, Michigan): Who rated this wine so low? This is 1) a good Blaufrankish, and a really good Up North red (not many of them are noteworthy). Super black peppery with some blueberry/plummy notes, but not just about fruit. Acid/tannins are present so this isn't a wine for everyone (not a plush velvet fruit pillow). A bit pricey for what it is (you could get something from Austria like this for $15), but a standout Leelanau red that isn't spoofy.
