Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): High acid and missing a lot of the expected aromatics. Somewhat stern and unexpressive. With a few hours, most came to the conclusion that this bottle was corked.

Dinner at avec River North (Chicago, IL): Far and away the best bottle of this wine I've had. The nose is surprisingly clean, but shows a lot of Jamet-like olive character. Perfumed and spicy on the nose with plenty of syrah spice as well. On the palate, this is silky and resolved, with an incredible saline profile and plenty of fresh acidity as well. Stunning stuff, as can be expected from the estate.

Beat the '90 Latour: Popped and poured. Initially a little thin and astringent, suspected that this was from a cold vintage. After a couple of hours this was singing with restrained cool fruit that only wines from that era could have. Some coffee, smoked bacon and mushroom notes. Great balance and still very much alive. 94-.

Still dark, grippy and young-tasting - meat, olives, really savoury. Fantastic. Many years ahead
