  • shared with pat at selkirk manor. i continue to prune the cellar of bottles with past due drink by dates. paired this bottle with scallops from metropolitan seafood. last tasted 1/16/2021. tonite's bottle shows a similar profile. although there is no disputing that the wine is past its peak as color is golden and caramel notes overtake the crisp fruit described when the wine was young, it was still enjoyable and provided an interesting pairing with seafood. at this point, definitely needs to be enjoyed now.

  • shared with pat at selkirk manor. i continue to prune the cellar of bottles with past due drink by dates. a recent note from another member suggested that this bottle required attention even though professional review indicated we should still be in safe territory. no formal notes taken and memory fails as i am writing this six months later. note that this was a half bottle. i do recall buttery and caramel characteristics described by another member. i am not conversant regarding the characteristics of meursault so i am not sure how much of this is typical of the region and how much is attributable to bottle age. retrospective study of notes from others suggests that i would have enjoyed this more at a younger age. will enjoy last bottle before the end of the summer.

  • Mid gold, showing its bottle age. The nose has a solvent lift, with spicy wood derived notes, crushed fennel and lime blossom. A buttery, caramel note too.
The palate surges, with good energy, dryness and grippy skin tannins. A clean fresh finish.
Dense, flavoursome Mersault, terrific value and going well at 10 years.

  • Butter and caramel nose, granny smith apple, something quite exotic, nutty. Vibrant, spicy, and sharp attack with nice, slightly salty mid palate and compact, precise, salted caramel, drying finish. I sometimes find meursault a little blunt and one dimensional but this was a lesson in how good they can be even at moderate price points. Bought at the cave in Meursault.
