  • I love the Gewurtztraminer grape and it produces a lovely wine in New Zealand but not much of it finds its way to England! I first tried it in Christchurch New Zealand in 1998 with Thai Food during a holiday there. That bottle was from Grove Mill from grapes grown in Marlborough in the South Island. This bottle tonight drunk at home in Christchurch England was full and fruity... rose petals and lychee with a hint of ginger but with a dry edge and complementing the Chinese takeaway! Well done Villa Maria. The grapes this time came from the east coast of the North Island ... Hawkes Bay area. At £9.99 for the bottle at Co-operative stores I also bought a basic Cave de Turkheim Alsace Gewertz. for 50p less and will look forward to comparing my notes with this one when I have my next Chinese takeaway. I suspect it will be equally as good but more complex!

  • Light lemon colour. Ginger and rose on nose - turkish delight as well. Similar flavours with a bit of citrus. Light in mouth with good acid. Went well with thai style salmon.
