Aromas of white peach, rich papaya, also some fresh flowers. Palate: some rich cantaloupe, honey, pineapple rind… chunky tropical fruit, but solid acid keeps it fresh. I really like this wine for $11.

Honey, tea, graham cracker notes; rich, chalky minerals, medium extract and body with a nice pleasant finish. Great starter wine for this grape to see what this varietal can do. Well made and well worth the $$.

Saturday at Wegandt Wines (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): more circus peanuts on the nose, not as much as the viognier, but it's still quite candied. honey, pineappple and canteloupe melons flavors. enough acid to keep it balanced and interesting. it's a bold, big wine, but I still enjoyed it, more so than the 2010 viognier from this producer.
