  • 7,5% alcohol.

Pale and very slightly hazy yellow-green color. Somewhat restrained yet nuanced nose with layered aromas of chalk dust, some lemon marmalade, a little bit of apple jam and a developed hint of petrol. The wine is sweet, oily and very balanced on the palate with rich yet slightly understated flavors of lemon marmalade, overripe apricot, some saline minerality, a little bit of apple juice, light fruit salad tones and a hint of ripe golden apples. The high acidity keeps the wine focused and structured without making it too lean or tightly-knit. The finish is ripe and juicy with quite long flavors of ripe golden apples, some lemon marmalade, a little bit of acacia honey, light bitter notes of chalky minerality and a hint of saline tang.

A tasty and balanced Auslese that feels very youthful and somewhat understated, making me wonder if this is in a dumb phase right now. The pieces all seem to be there, but the wine feels slightly restrained and underwhelming in style, so probably the wine has now lost its most exuberant youthful fruit, but the developed tertiary notes are yet to emerge, which is why the wine comes across as a bit reticent. Nevertheless, the overall impression exudes finesse and most likely the wine will turn out great - it just needs more time. Promising.
