Drank a while back with a dear friend who has since passed away. like me he was a mad old Bordeaux lover with rare ones going back to late 1800's. he came to Melbourne we dined at members Dining Room in a private room at RACV club and i opened this wine from my cellar. it was in excellent condition, still in the neck. It started off being very upset at being let out of the bottle after half a century or so but soon realized it was not going back into the bottle so decided to party instead. and boy did it party. for those who understand what i am saying not much beats great old Bordeaux from great vintages ( to be more precise Great old "bottles" of Bordeaux as there can be massive variation ) . it was sweet, velvety, with lovely fine dusty tannin and sweet red fruit earthy fruit all wrapped in cedar and tobacco. just simply superb. not a heavy weight, barely medium bodied in fact ,but it glided down the throat. if you can find good bottles then grab it

Good colour, a little fade at the rim; impressive intensity on the nose, cedar, antique wood, perfumed red fruits and spice. Surprisingly youthful; spreads beautifully on the palate, tannins very fine now, not lacking for flavour and balance. Long. Very good for the estate/age.

In halve bottle. Fresh and vibrant with plenty of sweet dark fruit and acidity. Drinking superbly well.
