Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Great fill, despite a dried out cork that crumbled on me. Wow! Who would have thought that a 13 year old pinot from KJ would still be drinking well? This is delicious.Tanzer's note is pretty much accurate still. My only nit is a bit of heat on the nose and that "high-toned" thing that marks this as Cali pinot. The fruit is still lovely, with some secondary characteristics emerging. This also has nice acidity, and I am guessing that it is this wine's excellent balance that has let it age so nicely. I am continuously astounded by how well some low-mid price cali pinots can age, as long as they weren't over-extracted, alcoholic messes to start with. This is probably 88-89 points, but gets kicked up to 90 as a bonus for its longevity and the pure delight in drinking it.
