  • There was a little funk on the nose immediately after opening. I guess that should be expected from a eight year wine. It opened up quickly in the glass and did not need decanting. The color was dark ruby almost purple. This was a well balanced wine high fruit concentration and medium acidity and medium tannins. Aroma was dark fruit, hints of pomegranate, a little bacon fat and toasty oak. Fruit forward on the pallet (dark fruit) some red licorice, white pepper a tinge of old bay seasoning. This wine is in a fine place and will continue to improve for a year or two, maybe three. Don't wait too long.
The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like plum, cherry, forest floor and toast. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

  • Dark purple in appearance, nose of black cherry, pepper, earth, and underbrush, tastes of black cherries, some licorice, dark fruit, smooth, silky tannins, this wine is multi-layered and is better with decanting; long finish with hints of vanilla and oak

  • Popped and poured. On the nose, high alcohol was apparent, followed by notes of dark fruits, black cherry and current. The barrel toast was overpowering the nose and the pallet. After about 10 minutes of exposure, the alcohol evaporated and the dark fruit was more pronounced. On the pallet dark fruit, a lot of oak. A full bodied wine, oak forward, yet integrated. As the fruit developed the oak continued to deminished leaving a balanced wine. The tannins were signicant but not over powering or bitter. I drank this wine for two to three hours and the wine mellowed and got better with each taste. Overall a good wine.

  • At home with Balsamic Chicken Risotto...This was in my cellar for a few years, first experience. Decanted for about 30+ minutes.

Medium ruby/purple color. Dark fruits, blackberry and plums. Floral notes. Medium finish. This bottle seemed slightly off, mild taint in mid palate. No rating, would want a better comparison
