Peaking now with perhaps another 5 years to go in this terrific window. If you've owned and saved this wine all these years, your wait will be amply rewarded. The wine is a beautiful dark yellow color. Flavor is rich but not extracted, with a good mix of lemon, orange peel, dry wax. World-class Chardonnay that can please both California and Burgundy lovers.

Less powerful than I had expected after two prior bottles opened years ago. Still very good, but only after an hour+ of opening in the decanter. It didn't rise to the level of Montrachet-equivalent for me. Be sure to decant.

Sea, Feather and Land (New Jersey): From my cellar with the first of 5 courses created by Shane with assistance from a few of us. Served beside a bottle of 2006 Marc Colin Montrachet. The Mount Eden was decanted 2+ hours ahead and the Montrachet only 1+ hour. This wine was a bright medium yellow color, indistinguishable from the Montrachet. The nose was floral, smokey, and filled with lemon curd while the Montrachet had more of a butterscotch overtone. The acidity was medium(+) and showed a lot of verve. The mouthfeel was rich and chewy. Palate showed lemon, vanilla, ripe white peach, with a smokey undertone. The finish was very long and saline. So balanced and delicious with the lobster seared in butter and tarragon with crispy cornbread. The two wines were extremely close in most respects with the Montrachet slightly edging this out on texture and complexity, but the Mount Eden had a little more energy/acidity. This clearly is drinking wonderfully and needs the air we provided. Certainly likely this can still improve through its 20th birthday, maybe longer.

Opened two bottles which were pristine despite their nearly decade and a half age. Dark lemon yellow. No sign of oxidation but nice evolution with hints of creaminess in the nose and palate that also seems to add a nice texture as well. Acidity is still bright. Layers of citrus, orchard and tropical fruits as well as a solid mineral core. Very long on the finish. Just delicious both alone and with food, especially with my signature crab cakes.
