Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of blueberries, boysenberry, a bit of smoke and white pepper. Flavors of black berries, raspberries and cherries. Bright acidity, medium tannins, light to medium body. Drink or hold.

Wines of Italy (Farpointe Cellar): A nose of blackberry, leather, spice, and vanilla. The palate was very tannic, and had spice, blackberry, and earth.

Tasted blind. Cooper trying to "test us". Herbal, violets, rhubarb. Guessed zweigelt. Somewhat blunt on the finish, similar to a gamay. Not a lot of fruit, but would do well with food - good QPR. would buy more.

Pinots, Pinots, and Pinots! (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had a really subtle aspect where the aromas seemed to slowly reveal themselves. First came some cherry and blackberry. Then some spice and earth. Finally, there was an old oak smell. The palate was not as good as the nose. It was very green and bitter. It had the same fruit as the nose, but it was completely overwhelmed by the bitter flavors.

Popped and poured. Needed about 30 minutes of open time to come through.
