Couleur soutenue, sombre pour un Barolo, nez frais, épicé, herbes fraiches, alcool présent mais sans excès, fruits rouges, réglisse, sureau, menthe, rose, magnifique bouquet, bois un peu toasté, épices marquées également en bouche, agrumes, fruits rouges, tannins magnifiques, belle longueur, superbe équilibre, un vin impressionnant, puissant et élégant, parfaitement équilibré avec un très beau potentiel. C'est presque parfait. C'est quand on boit ces vins qu'on se rend compte que 75cl, c'est vraiment pas beaucoup...
Just starting to brick on the rim. Huge brooding nose of smoke, sweet blackcurrant fruit, mint, tar, with time a distinct pepper note. Relatively (for Sandrone) elegant on the palate but it’s nonetheless palate-staining, the characteristic smooth lick of oak. Lovely sweet fruit more on a cherry register and bright freshness. Finishes on the acidity, but with plenty of fruit to buffer it. Vanilla oakiness is still quite dominant: that’s the style! But has a lovely aromatic lift. Fabulous wine towards the elegant end of Sandrone in line with the vintage.
