Medium yellow. Spicy bouquet. Stone fruits and almonds on the palate, creamy texture, but airy and elegant mouthfeel. Marks of pepper and asian spices, long and deep, persistant. STGT. Grand vin.

Northern Rhône (Noizé): Deep colour. Nose seems very advanced - the palate is a little more balanced, but there's still a hint of the pox here, as well as a natural-ish character.

Didn't know there St Joseph produced any whites and was pleasantly surprised to see this beautiful bottle at the wine shop cum restaurant. Popped and poured and shared with the boss and two somms. Minerally, restrained and very enjoyable without being too intellectual. Decent length and good acid, though I think this cuvee is susceptible to premox. Saw a note that mentioned almond skin - and that is quite spot on. A light touch of bitterness, which to me, is NOT a flaw.

ESTG does Cornas and St. Joseph (Newcastle, WA): My initial impression was very positive, as there were some nice secondary notes and interesting complexity. But upon reflection (and maybe influenced correctly by Adam), it lacked in weight and mineral intensity. Too bad, I wanted to like this more.

Will T’s St Joseph @ Hawksmoor (Hawksmoor, Guildhall): Mid to full straw. Minerally, quite restrained, apricot kernel nose. Nicely textural without being weighty. A touch of almond skin on the finish. ****
