Ideal accompaniment to grilled beefsteak and roasted corn aioli. Consistent with earlier, previous tastings. Tonight, at sixteen years, the fill level, foil, label and most importantly the cork were all in ideal condition. The wine was a bit more settled and integrated than initially but still a bit slightly obtuse and forward. Tonight I gave it RM 91 points. https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2023/09/blue-hall-vineyard-camiana-howell.html

WOTN. We bought several vintages of this 6 or 7 years ago on various close outs and have regretted not buying more. This low volume producer made wines for retail for only about 7 vintages before selling their Howell Mtn property. Deep indigo in color. Bold, rich flavors of blackberry, blueberry, plum, tar, clove and a hint of wordiness. Full bodied with ample tannins and a finish that goes on and on. A powerful, bold statement. Wish I had a lot more.

Just keeps getting better and better. Dark, opaque indigo in color. Raspberry, blackberry, dark chocolate, coffee and a hint of cedar on the finish. Nicely integrated, silky smooth tannins and a touch of Howell mountain “bramble”. Full bodied with a lingering, spicy finish.

Dark and brooding but has loosened up and is not tight with a 2 hour decant. Smoky and spicy with depth of flavor and sweet aromas of currant and paprika. Most popular of 3 reds at the table.

Probably the strongest showing of an evening flight that included Brane Cantenac and an ‘11 Craig Howell Mtn. Medium purple in the glass. Slightly lavendar nose but the magic was on the palate. Full of blackberry and raspberry with that Howell Mtn. Bramble and a bit of cedar. Medium body with properly integrated tannins. Drinking at peak now. Decant this and let it sit for two to three hours.
