S.F....La Paulee style! (S.F. Ca.): This was just ok for me....there was some kind of charred earth to it...rustic, dried berry fruit, ripe plum, some nice dried orange and rose spice...just not enough tastiness.

Pale red brown. Lovely round plumy aromas. Quite powerful, good balance although a bit acidic on the finish. Classic aged Gevrey, still showing lots of fruit and a good example of what those who think that Burgundy should be drunk up within ten years are missing. Paired with lamb loin wrapped in prosciutto and filo pastry with a pea mash and jus, the meat was strong and the wine matched it perfectly. Excellent (90-94) for a “minor” grand cru.

3rd of 4. Mature, elegant and mellow. A lovely 27 year old Gevery Chambertin. 4/5
