keith and i played the usual pin the tail on the donkey. it was my turn to guess what was in the bag. i correctly determined that it was new world which keith acknowledged but was quick to point out that he selected the wine because of its old world characteristics. then i fumbled by calling the wine california zin because of a prominent pepper taste. after being beaten down i blurted out rhone but keith did not let me pursue this line of reasoning. he finally revealed the true identity. we did agree that the wine is in its infancy and would benefit from 5 to 10 years in bottle to work out the kinks. seems to have much to offer. at the moment, there is no more to be had on retail shelves in new york.

This wine continues to improve. I can't believe it's the same wine that disappointed two years ago.
