My sister and brother in law's contribution to the dinner. Very nice and complex. Layers of flavors with almost a creamy mouth feel, which was unusual for a champagne. There was actually a red fruit flavor, probably from piniot noir, in the background and although the residual sugar was probably zero, there was an apparent sweetness from the fruit.

The Dutch Visit: Part 1; 3/31/2006-4/1/2006: A pale straw yellow N.V. blend of the 1996, 1995, and 1993 grapes. On the nose, notes of brioche, yeast, and fainter citrus. In the mouth, the wine shows its typical great balance of acidity, citrus flavors, toasted bread notes, and gravelly minerality. Very suave, elegant Champagne from the initial attack to the long finish. This particular bottle showed some signs that it was approaching maturity, but I suspect that most bottles will drink better in another 5 years.

The Ultimative 1996 Champagne Tasting with Richard Juhlin (Behrens am Kai in Düsseldorf 1 star restaurant): Elegant, reluctant, fresh, very long finish. Only Richrad had this bottle before, once. Very long clean finish 96(97)
