Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • Certainly overmature in colour, yet there remains a core of red holding out against the broad band of mahogany at the rim.

Again overnature on the nose, with mushroom very much to the fore with some high toned fruit somewhat relegated to the background.

The (red) fruit shows much better on the palate, sweet and lively, delicate yet persistent, yet there's also a little dry earthiness that comes through on the finish.

Overall, still alive, interesting and with some charm, yet one has to gloss over some failings to appreciate it.

  • A very poor level, even for such age.
Only the very faintest hint of red remains amongst the light & clear mahogany.

... and yet, this retains interest, albeit with meaty, even horsey aromas and more than a little dung. There are faint traces of red fruits and despite being clearly over-mature, remains an interesting, delicate wine that was still robust enough to be enjoyable the day after opening.
