A worthwhile Tuesday night wine with a typical feminine Margaux nose and flavor but ultimately not a memorable wine. The label and provenance are more impressive than the contents.

Ok. So this time I decanted properly and let it rest while I roasted a rib eye of beef.
I think my last judgement whilst entertaining Halloween guests was not the best choice.
The nose was much more floral. A bit sweet. Not a lot but was elegant. Examined the colour gradient impressive changes seen at the edge of a tipped glass.
First attack was spicy and good balance of acid and structure was much more defined than before. Nice fruit, not backwards this time. Good evolution to something more dense. Wish the finish was longer. Exemplifies the elegance of 2009. Reminds me of a good 2001. Prettier than 2005.
It had more bells and whistles when given due appreciation. The earthy muddy tones had left and there was a soft elegant wine underneath.

I asked for a delivery of half a case of 2008. I received 2009. We pay about €36 in Ireland. It's within budget but it should deliver.
Interestingly I found the 2008 much more forward. The 2009 is not as pretty. I would hesitate to say my bottle was a bit backward. It was dense maybe chewy. It has finesse but something wasn't quite right. Did anyone else get an earthy nose? It has a dark inky look and shows a good gradient of colour.
I ought to pop another tonight to retry. The vintage demands it. Perhaps needs a good decanting?

Pleasant Margaux on the lighter side. Nose of cherries, palate of red fruit and some secondary elements. Not overly complex but pleasant to drink now.
