Coravinned. This is the commemorative bottling for the opening of the winery the following year, black bottle, not the cellartracker photo. 50 years old. red-orange rim and deep brown/black core. A lot of alive fruit, way more than I was expecting. sweet fruited, long finish, perhaps medium stage of life. Certainly above average quality. "iron blackberry" comes to mind. If the cork is good (mine was) must have an indefinite lifespan. Not much caramel or residual wafting aromatics, more a dense fortified suspended animation!

40th Birthday Old Vino Dinner (Era Bistro, Brisbane): This was in a bracket with a '63 Dow's port, so had some pretty tough competition. It was a deeper colour than the Dows. Fairly sweet, decent fruit on the palate, but not a lot of complexity. Considering it cost about $30, it was a worthwhile drink for a port of its age. Enjoyable drink, but nothing memorable.
