Delicious. While I trend to prefer less sweet styles of Madeira, this manages to provide the luscious sweetness of the grape but in a lighter, more balanced style. Coffee, caramel and orange mix with golden raisins. That said, it’s rich but not syrupy. Golden / amber color. I like it. (92)

Part of tasting with Chris Blandy: The 2nd sweetest of the flight, but still with good acidity, keeping it fresh, better when chilled slightly below cellar temp. More marmalade and pain aux raisin, with honeyed fruits of peach and apricot. Needed the sweeter food to match, fruit cake and caramel sauce, the Stilton worked as well, but felt very rich. 5th favourite

Zoom tasting hosted by The Wine Society, UK, with wines supplied in 50ml bottles. Presented by winery owner Chris Blandy. Light chestnut colour. Nose shows varnished table. This was expected to be somewhat sweet, but it comes across drier. Honey, dried fruits. Suggested accompaniment was sticky toffee pudding, but we found the Madeira and the toffee pudding were best tasted separately!

Love that this wasn't super rich and sweet, but rather mildly sweet, but also savory and succulent. Very easy to drink.

Great companion for the dessert and sweet Christmas dinner table. Not the most complex Madeira but does drink well now.
