garnet, medium body, mild aromas of bramble, flavors of earthy dark fruit, volcanic earth, modest pleasant finish, opening up over two hours, evolving volcanic flavors and finish, some acid and a bit of tannin remaining; drink now through 2021. good value @$30

This is a wine that I love but typically will not buy again because it's so hard to pair with food. It is big, dark, and powerful. The nose is loaded with bitter dark chocolate, chalk dust, and ripe cherries. In the mouth dark chocolate and cigar dominates with creme de cassis undertones and dry earth. Finishes a little short for my liking but nothing to snarf at.
I've been on a big jammy fruit binge in the past 16 moths and it doesn't seem to end. This is the kind of wine I used to chase but it's hard to drink with new wine drinkers and hard to pair with most casual foods. $35-50 is a bargain anything above that can be passed.
Remember you don't drink the label.

Nice nose and complexity. Acidity and tannins were a little out of sync.

Medium color for a cab. Tons of dark cherry and a touch of vanilla on the nose and the palette. Could use some age, but it's good now.
