  • Standard nice cab. Still has some notes of leathery dark cherry

  • Deep purple color and strong berry nose. More balanced than previous bottles consumed over the years. Not much tannin left to resolve--but could still age a bit more, albeit not too long (!).Classic cab that paired nicely with filet mignon.

  • Pop and Pour. Surprisingly accessible right out of the bottle, with a nose of black fruit and cedar. Good structure and nice salvo of fruit on the opening. No herbaceous notes on the mid palate, and decent finish. After a couple hours the nose and flavor profile took on a distinctly smoky note. Good Quality to Price Ratio (QPR).

  • Just as Cam said, "Lot 283 features a voluminous nose of black and blue fruit, cherry liqueur and cappuccino oak notes." Uncorked, I wouldn't say "The palate is expansive yet elegant..." As I've yet to learn what that means. Yes, one can detect hints of black licorice, but my senses missed the espresso. And, the tannins do stretch the wine out at the back of the throat, but it doesn't have that full mouth feel. Very drinkable. Just my 283 cents.

  • Thin, flat, and lifeless, a subtle not-pleasant underlying cherry-candy aftertaste, and without much improvement on day two. I had opened a bottle about a year prior, this not as I remember my first bottle. It is an ok wine given the QPR, but not the best showing by CH.
(edit) I believe this bottle to be flawed. I opened my last bottle of this lot and found this fresh opening to be much more 'cab' like; better body (though still thin), black berry and herbaceous. Still, not the best expression of a NV cab in my (very limited) experience. Not a wine I can recommend to hold onto for the cellar, best to drink now. To be fair, I bought this as a drink now wine - I got just what I asked for.
