  • From a half bottle. Rather interesting nose with notes of funk and mineral. Medium bodied, dry, quite refreshing, a bit unfocused palate with subtle citrus and some tiny funky notes. Overall a decent basic cava.

  • Appearance: Bright and clear, it has light lemon color, with watery rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (-) intensity aromas of green fruit such as apple, citrus fruit of lemon and lime, floral notes of acacia, stone fruit of peach, autolytic notes of yeast. The wine is youthful.
Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, it has medium (-) alcohol and medium (-) body, with medium intensity flavors of green fruit of apple, floral notes of acacia, citrus fruit of lemon and autolytic notes of biscuit. The wine has a short finish.
Conclusion: Good quality Cava with a fairly light nose showing simple characters, yet it is highly refreshing, with good acidity and a decent concentration on the palate, though the finish is a bit weak. Overall still a wine to enjoy under the current weather in HK and nice pairing with the melon mousse I made for lunch today. Ready to drink now and not for further ageing.

  • The wine is clear and bright with a pale lemon colour and presence of many small bubbles.

The nose is clean and developing, showing medium intensity aromas of green fruit (green apple, pear), citrus (lemon peel) and yeast (bread, brioche).

The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium acidity. It has a medium alcohol and a medium body with a creamy mousse. It has medium(+) intensity flavours of green fruit (green apple, pear), citrus (lemon peel) and yeast (bread, brioche). The finish is medium(+).

It is a very good quality wine. Very fresh and lean with a persistent enough finish, a remarkable flavour concentration and a good balance between alcohol and acidity. However a better example of this style would be more complex.

  • A blend of Xarel-lo (40%), Macabeo (40%) and Parellada (20%). Aged for 24-30 months on the lees. Dosage 8 g/l.

Light, pale green color. Surprisingly rich and enjoyably toasty nose showing some nice complexity: ripe stone fruits, some apple peel, a little perfumed florals, a hint of autolytic aromas of toasted bread and leesy creaminess and a touch of rubber - aroma somewhat ubiquitous of white Cavas. Quite full-bodied, rich and rather modest in acidity with generous flavors of ripe apple, quite prominent toasty notes of toast and nuttiness, a hint of sweet lemony citrus fruit a touch of rubber, again. The mousse is quite rich - even aggressive - but quite short, settling from a hard, frothy mousse to barely perceptible prickle in the mouth in just a few seconds. The finish is quite long, gentle and showing nice complexity with flavors of ripe apple, some herbal notes, a little lemon curd, a hint of bready and toasty autolysis and a touch of rubber.

A really positive surprise for a basic-level Cava, especially in its price range (only 4,5€ at the winery)! Exhibits lovely toasty autolysis with quite rich and powerful fruit that does never feel excessive in contrast to the quite full body or dosage. A voluminous and serious Cava Reserva that is probably best on its own. Recommended.
