Tasted blind. Over dinner at Fukuichi with Davyd. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of light toasted oak, red cherry, strawberry, licorice, floral notes, and a bit of sea-salt minerality. Developing. On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol, silky medium tannins, medium body. Medium flavor intensity, with flavours of red cherry, strawberry, licorice, and a bit of sea-salt minerality. The sweet licorice flavor became more intense with more air time. Long finish. Silky elegance the key feature here. I was spot-on 5 year old NZ Pinot Noir. Very good quality NZ Pinot Noir from Lake Wanaka. Can drink now, and will reward over the next 4-5 years.

(Rippon Pinot Noir Emma's block) Dark cherry red color; tart cherry, salty pie crust nose; tasty, velvety textured, tart raspberry, tart cherry, mineral palate with medium acidity; medium-plus finish

Enjoyed this from initial sip - bright fruit on nose with slightly austere body and balanced clean finish

Beautiful pinot. Poised and elegant, with tensile energy. New world fruit, but restrained, old-world style.
