  This wine hits my syrah wheelhouse by featuring a smoky/meaty aroma and a palate with one foot in the new world and one in the old. Nose has a prominent smoke component embroidered over raspberries/red berries and bacon fat/game. The mouthcoating palate is medium-bodied (no new world jamminess) with red fruits, pepper, and a sophisticated minerality. Surprised by some of the negative CT reviews – I guess this isn’t for everyone.

  Nothing whatsoever on the nose. Taste is very non-descript. No indications that bottle was flawed; cork and bottle both appear perfect.
