Whiplash from the Spanna. Gushing and open and sweet and floral. Classic Fourrier herbal and green. Dark berries. Blackberry and raspberry. Violets deep and almost inky. Young and spicy on the palate. Dark fruit and spicy and sweet fruit. Crisp and lovely and perfumed. Spicy and a little vegetal and also sweet on the finish. Maybe a little sour in finish but with nice sweetness and complexity. This was classic 2010 and Fourrier but it was just a little too green and sour to be just what I wanted. Nose: 5-5.5/6, Palate: 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5-16.5/20.

Bright ruby core to garnet at the edges. Mid red fruit, a slightly meaty earthiness that develops nicely through the bottle. Gorgeous fruit and evolving Gevrey complexity. ****

This Fourrier was lights out. 2010 is a vintage for me. This was focused and pure with sappy red fruit and a long spicy finish. There was a real feral component to this wine that I was obsessed with. The tannin was mostly resolved and balanced with perfect acidity. I managed to catch this wine in its moment. A real wow wine. It continues to surprise me how well these village level wines show / age. Aged Burgundy is truly special…
For those who aren’t familiar with this vineyard it is at the southern end of Gevrey and it directly boarders the Grand Cru Mazoyere / Charms-Chambertin. A lot of value here, and a very underrated wine in Fourrier’s portfolio IMO.

First look at the 10 en Echezeaux. Similar to the Grevrey tout court, starts off quite full and deep with darker fruit, but with air things return to normal and this shows a nice,y earthy, slightly meaty red fruited ness with some sous bois and early development starting to show. A happy blend of Gevrey and Fourrier. ****

Opened for an hour before pouring. Pale garnet color. Slight funkiness. Fragrant brambly red fruit, smoke, and herb. Light weight, dull strawberry, soil, herbs, and a touch of citrus. Delicate and fine. Less obviously sweet and more subtle than some Fourrier wines. Right at the point of maturity.
