Color here was a bit advanced. Some brownish hints. Also a bit of CO2. This was double decanted and enjoyed over several hours. Like it's name, this was a charming wine. If this bottle is representative, it is time to drink these. The vineyard is from the former Domaine Truchot. The vines were planted in the 1920s. While called Charmes, it is really from Mazoyeres.

MASTER BORGOGNA 2016; 5/10/2016-7/10/2016 (LA MADERNASSA RESORT GUARENE): Da una parcella ottantenne nel Mazoyeres il manico di David riesce a risollevare il nome di una vigna spesso sottovalutata. La vendemmia a grappolo intero è la marcia in più che eleva questa gemma a livelli aromatici sconosciuti agli altri vini: si parla di anestesia nasale da fiori al caramello. La bocca è di medio corpo, l' estrazione e l' élevage calibrati al millimetro e la persistenza degna di un vero vino di "Charme". Manca solo la quota di mineralità dei due Chambertin, ma credo sia ingiusto pretendere di più.

La Paulée de New York 2013 (Metropolitan Pavilion, NYC): Nose is an alluring heavy, sweet skunky earth. My sorta wine. Palate has a lot of interference (for now): heat, vinyl, but with great fruit in tow. Probably will be fantastic once the front end can calm down.

Chemical nose at first, but with air this slowly disappears. What's left is a lovely and elegant wine with fine powerplay and lots of potential. 93+
