Nice mix of dark robust earthy plums, and blackberries coupled with roasted meat, smoke and a little cola. Palate is slightly richer and fruitier than the nose. Very nice well made Syrah very much in the Mike Smith style. Plenty of life ahead, barely showed signs of age.

Beautiful dark ruby. Nose has ferrous, roast meat and floral (lily) notes. Palate is rich and viscous with notes of tart raspberry, baking spice and root beer. Finish is med + length with solid but integrated tannins.

PnP Nice clean deep ruby color with a punch in the nose of what seems like a blackberry liqueur. I seem to taste blackberries that are not fully ripened with no green detected. Also tangy spicy pepper with a hint of meat. Med tannin and med acid with a good finish. WBA and wait a few to crack another wouldn't hurt.

Only had time for an hour decant and it needed more time. I only had one bottle of this and so my score might be too low. Initial taste was that it was very well balanced with a hint of green stem bitterness that faded over time. There was an edginess to the wine that I liked and it was more dry and less sweet than some California Syrahs. I might see if I can find another bottle of this and give it 3 hours decant time and see how the score compares. Overall very good for my first foray into Carneros Las Madres Syrah.

Really well developed. Great dark fruit and nice Syrah flavors of game and flint. Should have been buying these more. Great example of holding Syrah.
