The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, black currant (cassis), black pepper and fur. It tastes like black currant (cassis), strawberry and black pepper. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

UWS (@ JB): Beautiful bouquet with red and dark berries, a touch of barnyard and laurel. On the palate the same fruits, some forest impressions, chocolate, sweet licorice, good acidity and slightly sticky tannin. Beautiful wine with still a future of a few years.

Robert Kacher Selections (Washington, DC): Berry-driven with pepper and lots of spices. This bottle shows a silkier approach than the one I tasted six months ago, but still densely structured. Love the pepper and herbal complexities.

Rich, ripe blackberries and currants on the nose, mixed in with some notes of peppered steak. The black and red berry fruit is rich but bright, and the tannins provide solid structure. Equally strong are the flavors of black pepper sauce, baking spices and sweet herbs. Quite complex but a bit primal right now. This could use a few years to mature and will probably drink well for a few presidential elections. 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre.
