  • On opening I found a nose of straw mushrooms and soy. Later stewed prunes and slightly cloudy blackberry. The greenness of the vintage then started to come through with green peppers. Some muted fruit and softened tannins fought with a little mustiness. After two hours or so, redcurrants. This is a very good ribena. An interesting experience amongst a selection of old bottles I recently picked up in auction. Few distinguishing features of Pauillac remain but this is still pleasant. In more recent vintages this has been a beauty.

  • Pronounced green capsicums with hint of herbaceous meatiness. Leafy cherry fruits with touches of mint. Good for drinking now.

  • Typical pauliiac nose of classical tobacco leaves , some mixed green and dried tea leaves. Well matured palate of semi ripe cassis blueberry fruits deliciously softened for immediate drinking pleasure.
