  • This is K&L’s private label. They either purchase the wine and don’t disclose the winery or they purchase the fruit and have it made under their label. They gave a pretty big clue on this one...the property is owned by the first winemaker to score 100 points on a Napa cabernet from Robert Parker (the research is easy, look it up!)

At 10yrs, this is probably drinking at its apex. Nicely integrated...smooth and round. Fruit is still the main focus, but the oak is in the background and it is certainly not dense or heavy. Aromatically, it’s showing red, blue and black fruits. Dark cocoa dusted dates, cedar and a hint of smoked meats. On the palate, it’s fairly light revealing a mix of sweet and spiced fruits...peppercorn covered rhubarb pie, baking spices, holiday fruit cake, violets and freshly squeezed black cherries. Likely holding in this window for 2-3yrs before declining a touch.

  • Very nice drinking right now. Requires a decant or a couple hours of breathing. Message me if you want to unload some!

  • Nice, but basic California Cabernet Sauvignon. Still very fresh and fruit forward, decent tannins. Not a lot in the sense of terrior.

  • Opened for my wife same night I opened a 1990 BV Rutherford that was too old for her. This was nice enough, but it's pretty pedestrian and generic. Not a huge fruitbomb, but not really as fresh and vegetative as Cab should be--there need to be some savory elements, right? So the fruit lived, the oak settled down (see previous note), but it's still not a super exciting wine. Even if it was available again, I probably wouldn't take up cellar space with this. I'm pretty sure Kalinda gets the barrels that didn't make the blend for a reason.
