Not decanted; clean cork. Deep, mostly opaque ruby color in the glass. Aromas of leather, smoked meat, sandalwood and fig compote. The palate is medium-bodied, with flavors of dusty soil, briar patch, olive and sour red cherry. Acidity is medium low, and tannins are medium high. Finishes at medium length. Overall, this is showing accelerated maturity and is unbalanced, with the fruit faded in comparison to acidity/tannin. Drink up.

Haskell Vineyards Tasting Session (Haskell Vineyards): (Tasted Blind): Mid garnet colour, the nose is funky and has a faint presence of Brett, which becomes distracting as the wine opens. Moments of dried earth and some Havana cigars perhaps helped a little, but the palate didn't improve significantly. Got worse in glass with that faecal note, and the tannins became harder, bitter and drying.

Saturday Bordeaux Tasting (SF Wine Trading Company): Deep ruby-the darkest of the bunch. Cedar and mint aromatics. Tobacco and earth palate along with a woody base. Very, very tight, not much texture. Pretty classic. As opposed to the Giscours, I could somehow see my way through the structure and appreciate a lot of underlying material here that reminded me more of Graves than anything else. To get there, this will need a ton of time. Impressive second wine.
