  • With Freaks at Barrel Wijnlokaal: I agree with Angryphoton. I prefer the 2010 Sommerberg 2010 E

  • Deep golden color. Almost like a toned down orange soda when first opened. Acidity gives it a tingling sensation at first, but then with air and as it warms up, it becomes more harmonious. I get orange rind, peach, and grapefruit, and an exceptionally long finish. Boxler has its fans, but I prefer other Rieslings from Alsace.

  • Still needs time IMHO, very fresh and on the young side for me. Don't get me wrong, it is not drinking like a 2019 or 2018 wine, but there is hardly any secondary development on this wine if you are looking for that kind of stuff. The acidity is quite prominent, is a tad too prominent. A few more years sideways and this should integrate a bit more. Very classic Riesling flavors with very light petrol notes, it is not like some Rieslings where the petrol notes overwhelm the fruit. Lots of yellow fruit, quince, bruised apple, overripe pear, couple with some jasmine and white flower notes. Amazing with food but a bit sharp on its own.

  • I agree entirely with AngryPhoton below. The clearly has the stuffing for long+ ageing, but I found the acidity overwhelming (certainly without food) and it is still very primary. I am reluctant to estimate a drinking window, I suspect 5 if not 10 years. What guidance I can give is to pair this with robust food and/or think carefully about deploying it in a way that handles the acidity.

  • Still young and vibrant, relaxed, balanced with a fine acidity, very good length, slowly adding more layers as it approaches maturity; ends on a mineral note. Drinking a point, I think
