An old reliable for me. Unfortunately, the cellar seems to be barren after this bottle. I must research. This was probably my first exposure to Gigondas some many years back, now. I still enjoy it almost every time I have it. The black pepper spice is very distinctive and part of my overall enjoyment.

A very strange night. An insecure, belligerent, ignorant, obese, trust fund baby criminal behaves in a hostile, petulant and spoiled child manner to firmly cement himself in American history as the least presidential and worst President ever (W and Harding are grateful for easily being taken out of the running for such title). Unfortunately, after 4 years, that was not the strange part. The strange part was that the behavior was so egregious that even my cat was clearly disturbed by this horrific display of what the Republican party has become and what it openly and wrongfully coddles without shame. For the first time ever my 12 year old cat took an interest in my wine, a wine I had opened several times before in front of him. My cat not only tried to drink some of it, after I finished a glass he stuck his paw the glass to get the last few drops on his paw so he could lick it. When my cat starts drinking wine after watching Trump, you know the country has gone to hell. I'd like to think it was because the wine was something truly special, but it was just like the prior bottles I've had - plenty of ripe red fruits, a layer of black fruit underneath, some spice, Oak and still rich tannins.

Plenty of red fruits up front with Grenache on the nose. The Mourvèdre and add extra punch of dark fruit and the Cinsault adds some tangy fruit element but they don't all come together very well and the Oak treatment comes across as too strong with some resin elements. Not sure if wine is already falling apart, going through a awkward stage or simply was never great at any time. My experience with prior bottles has not been much better.

Fading but still some appealing Grenache pepper bites. My last bottle held few years too long
