Rating #986 and one of the more emotional for sure. I bought 4 bottles of this wine at the beginning of the pandemic and have tried about 1 per year ever since. The first 3 were horribly spoiled, complex vinegar at best. The corks never looked bad though and I had no idea what had spoiled them in this way. Therefore we expected bottle #4 to be a dud also. Again the cork was perfect and smelled great. We poured a glass and were completely surprised by what came next.
Nose is so rich, layered and complex with smoke and umami. When I closed my eyes not sure if this is the best smelling ugagi I've ever smelled or a marvelous Cote Rotie. Wine is 75% obscure. Taste is red currant, dark bramble and blueberry, smoke, tar, rubber. So delicious and light on its feet, whispy smoke. If only the other 3 bottles had been this enjoyable.

3rd of 4 bottles over last 3 years. Same acidic mess without any fruit character. At this point Ive lost all hope that the 4th bottle will be any different. Ive had my share of corked bottles but never all of the same lot. Nothing obvious wrong with any of the corks so am very curious what happened here.

Has slept in my cellar at 57*F since 2015. I must have waited too long. The wine was showing a bit of rust color at the edges and lacked all nuance and complexity.
If you have bottle/s in your cellar, do not wait.

Relatively expressive nose of dark fruit and silky finish with considerable acidity. Tannins negligible.
